Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Gravitt Digital LLC, a Colorado limited liability company doing business as Shelf & Spice (“we,” “us”). They cover your use of the Shelf & Spice website and web app (the “Service”). By signing in or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

1. Who can use Shelf & Spice

You must be at least 18 years old. The Service includes discussion and ratings of adult romance content. You're responsible for keeping your Google account secure and for activity under your account.

2. Your content

You own the content you add — your books, ratings, notes, tags and comments (“Your Content”). You give us a limited permission to store, display and process Your Content only as needed to run the Service, including showing it to the people you choose to share it with. This permission ends when you delete Your Content or your account, except for comments left on other members' books, which remain until deleted.

Don't post content that is illegal, harassing, hateful, or that violates someone else's rights, and don't share other people's personal information without permission. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.

3. Book clubs

Anyone can start a book club and invite up to 150 members with an invite link. The organizer can make up to 10 members club admins to help run it. The organizer and admins are responsible for who they invite and for the club's name, description, picks and meeting details. They can remove members and turn off old invite links. Treat meeting details with care: don't post a private home address in a club with people you don't know. Our Community Guidelines apply in every club.

4. Usernames

Your @username must be unique, 3–20 characters, and can't impersonate another person, Shelf & Spice staff or a brand, or be offensive. Some names are reserved. We may change or reclaim a username that breaks these rules. Only Shelf & Spice staff display a staff tag.

Book details, covers, trope tags and spice levels — including our suggested picks — come from members, Open Library and general reader consensus. They're approximate and provided for fun and convenience. Links to Amazon, Goodreads and other sites are provided for convenience; we don't control those sites. Some links may be affiliate links (see our disclosures). Book titles and covers belong to their respective authors and publishers.

7. Plans and payments

Free and paid plans. The Reader plan is free. Spice+ and Book Club are optional paid subscriptions. During early access every feature is free, and you'll never be charged unless you choose a paid plan and complete checkout.

Payments. Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. We never see or store your full card number. Prices are shown in U.S. dollars before you buy, and applicable sales tax may be added at checkout.

Automatic renewal. Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each monthly or yearly period, at the price shown when you subscribed, until you cancel. We'll email you before a yearly plan renews.

Cancelling. You can cancel any time in the app under Account › Your plan › Manage subscription. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep your paid features until the end of the period you've already paid for.

Refunds. Payments are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise, but if something went wrong (for example, a duplicate charge), email billing@shelfandspice.com within 30 days and we'll make it right.

Book Club plan. A Book Club plan is bought by a club's owner and covers that one club: its voting, picks and meeting tools, plus Spice+ for the owner and up to 7 other members. If the plan ends, the club and its members' books stay; only the paid features turn off.

Free and promotional access. We may give some readers or clubs paid features for free (for example, Founding Readers or partner book clubs). Free access can be ended with reasonable notice and never turns into a paid plan without your agreement.

Price changes. If we change a plan's price, we'll tell you at least 30 days before it applies to your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.

8. Changes and availability

We're actively improving Shelf & Spice, so features may change, and the Service may sometimes be unavailable. We'll give reasonable notice before discontinuing the Service, so you can export your data.

9. Ending your account

You can delete your account anytime from inside the app. If you have a paid plan, cancel it first in Manage subscription so it stops renewing. We may suspend or end access if you break these Terms or if required by law.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don't promise the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, so please keep your own exports of anything important.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Gravitt Digital LLC won't be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in El Paso County, Colorado, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.

13. Changes to these Terms

If we change these Terms in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and let you know in the app. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated Terms.
